Bringing together senior estates, finance and procurement decision makers from the NHS and local authorities.
UK100 at the PPP Climate and NHS Commercial Solutions Sustainable Estates Solutions Conference.
Join us in London as UK100's Chief Executive discusses how local authorities can enable climate resilient communities through housing retrofit.
UK100 is pleased to join NHS Commercial Solutions for their ground-breaking Sustainable Estates Solutions Conference, where our Chief Executive Christopher Hammond will share insights on delivering effective social housing retrofit programmes and their vital health co-benefits.
Panel: How local authorities can enable climate-resilient communities
Time: 14:45-15:30
Christopher will focus on the transformative health benefits of social housing retrofit and the practical challenges of delivery on the ground. The panel, chaired by Gerard Kanter, Director of Coordination at Green Homes Grants Installs (GGI), will explore how we can reform and scale up retrofit funding to match the scale of the challenge.
He will be joined by Cllr Shanika Mahendran, Cabinet Member for Economy, Sustainability and Innovation at Milton Keynes City Council and UK100 member, to discuss:
- Why prevention through housing quality improvement must be prioritised
- How to overcome practical delivery challenges in retrofit programmes
- The limitations of current funding mechanisms like the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund
- Solutions for scaling up local retrofit delivery
The NHS currently accounts for 4.4% of the nation's carbon emissions, and with most buildings that will exist in 2050 already constructed, the need for robust retrofitting solutions has never been more pressing. This landmark conference brings together 200 senior estates, finance and procurement decision-makers from NHS and local authorities to drive strategic discussions about decarbonising public sector estates.
